Mike Shaut supervises all activities at Carbon Vision. He regularly consults CEOs and other executives on corporate environment and sustainability strategy.
 
Mike is the former CEO of Education Lending Group/Student Loan Xpress, which provided $12 Billion in loans to more than 600,000 college students. Under Mike’s leadership, the company implemented numerous energy and operating efficiencies, including green data paperless initiatives, reducing its environmental impact and saving money. Prior to founding the company, Mike held executive management positions in banking with Society, AmeriTrust and Michigan National. At Michigan National, he led streamlining efforts that increased operating efficiency by nearly fifty 50% prior to sale of the Company. Mike also had a consulting practice aligned with Arthur Andersen that focused on strategic planning and operational re-engineering.
 
Mike began his career as an environmental lawyer, designing and implementing some of the earliest environmental compliance practices for the railroad company ConRail. Mike recently oversaw the construction of Ohio’s first LEED certified school building, Ruffing Montessori, in Shaker Heights. Mr. Shaut holds a B.A from Colgate University and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Jon Utech oversees Carbon Vision’s consulting practice, specializing in carbon footprinting, industry benchmarking and supply chain analysis.
 
Jon came to Carbon Vision from NACCO Industries, a holding company that includes North American Coal Company, Hamilton Beach and National Material Handling Group. Jon led a team at Hamilton Beach that mapped the company’s carbon footprint, implemented eco-friendly packaging and created an Eco-Product Design Process. He has benchmarked dozens of companies’ sustainability programs including Phillips, Hewlett Packard, Toyota, British Telecom, Fairmount Minerals and others.
 
Jon began his consulting career at Bain and Company where he helped numerous Fortune 500 companies including Motorola, Anheuser Busch, HBO, and BICC cable. Jon serves on the World Resources Institute GHG Protocol Product and Supply Chain Initiative, a multi-year carbon professional group determining the proper accounting methods for Scope 3 emissions.
 
Jon received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his MBA from the Weatherhead School at Case Western. He also holds a Masters of Organizational Development from Case Western with a focus on sustainability. .

Jeff recently joined Carbon Vision as its Chief Investment Officer. Jeff will focus on transaction structure and equity and debt funding for the solar transactions. Jeff will also assist Michael and Jon in marketing the different capabilities of Carbon Vision as they apply to potential investors (principally family offices), and issuers, including Universities, Hospitals, Municipalities and Corporations.

Previously Jeff has spent 30 years in the investment banking/ financial services industry. He has worked at Drexel Burnham in NYC and the west coast, and Salomon Brothers and Bear Stearns in Chicago. In addition, Jeff has held senior leadership positions at Bank One/JP Morgan (National Head of Investments), and Advanced Equities, Inc. (President).

Jeff also has extensive experience in the "alternative" investment space, including hedge funds and privater equity, and spent most of his four years at Advanced Equities working on transactions for renewable energy/Clean-tech companies including: Altra Biofuels, Amyris, Bloom Energy, Cilion, Range Fuels, Sol Focus and Suniva. Jeff was also instrumental in financing leading Silicon Valley based emerging technology companies including: Good Technology, Infinera, Motricity, Alien Technology, RMI Corp., Peregrine Semiconductor, eAsic Corporation, Foveon Inc., Luxtera, Agami, Ceterus, Force 10 Networks, IP Unity, MetricStream and Zantaz to name a few. During Mr. Fisher's tenure as President of AEI, the firm raised over $1 Billion in late stage venture capital.

Brandon is responsible for managing all installations of Carbon Vision's Solar Projects as well partnership cultivation. He graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Management, his professional experience includes: Technical Representative for Manufacturing Companies, founding / owning a successful Sales & Marketing Company and managing dozens of telecommunications system upgrades and new builds. He brings years of experience with ac/dc power supplies / inverters, trouble shooting, and monitoring as well as construction management, vendor, partner, and client relations.

Gery van Treeck designs Solar Photovoltaic Systems for Carbon Vision and is responsible for the proper design specs, grant writing, coordinating and performing QA on Solar PV and Solar Thermal Installations.

Gery started his career as a Field Verification Engineer at the Clinton Power Station for Illinois Power. He has worked on Instrumentations and Control Systems for various corporations including: Proctor & Gamble, Ralston Purina, General Electric and Ford Motor Co.

Gery is a NABCEP Certified Solar PV Installer. He is an Adjunct Instructor for Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, teaching Renewable Energy Classes PV / Wind and Solar Thermal/ Geothermal. He holds a BA from Xavier University with an Area of Concentration in Industrial Management. He also holds a AS in Electrical Engineering from Cincinnati Tech.

Penny has recently become a part of Carbon Vision. Her duties include the accounting, human resources and administrative functions for the company. She brings many years of experience in human resources and accounting to the company following her time in the Interior Design and Software Development fields. She holds a Marketing degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Jim has extensive experience in the financial, education and media industries. Prior to joining Carbon Vision, he served as the Chief Information Officer for Student Loan Xpress.
